History

Thumb Tailgater Sports was created with a simple purpose in mind: Better coverage for Thumb Sports. About one week before the start of the Football season, Eddie Fury decided to bring his dream of an online source for Thumb Area sports to a reality. Starting out with very little time to get organized, the first week was underway - and Thumb Tailgater Sports was born.

Starting out with only a Blog, Thumbtailgater.com came into existence in late September when Adam Filkins was brought on board to hand the Color Commentator duties. The website has been evolving since it's creation, and continues to bring new content each week.

As the playoffs neared, Thumb Tailgater Sports found the need to add a third voice to the mix. Mark "Maddog" Dimon was recruited to help with the statistical duties, as well as to bring a new insight to the game. Mark has been a huge addition to the team.

With the football season coming to an end, Thumb Tailgater Sports faced a decision. Do we take the winter off, or do we keep working to bring local sports fans additional coverage. Additional coverage - here we come!

We thank you for joining us on our journey. We look forward to covering the great teams of the area for many seasons to come.

Eddie Fury
With a long career in broadcasting, Eddie has always had a love of sports. Hailing from Deckerville, you may find that he is a little partial to his Eagles, but always tries to be impartial in calling games.

In taking both a financial and professional risk in bringing online coverage to area sports, Eddie hopes that Online Streaming of area games will allow those in and out of the area to follow their favorite teams and players.

Adam Filkins
Coming in at the start of the 1st season, Adam brings a strong technical background. This makes the Online world of Thumb Tailgater Sports and online broadcasting right up his alley.

At Sandusky High School, Adam played football and wrestled. As a fan of nearly all sports, Adam is able to bring an insight that will hopefully bring listeners into the booth during a broadcast.

Mark "Maddog" Dimon
Brought on board near the end of the regular season for football, Mark has proved to be an invaluable asset to the Thumb Tailgater Sports team. While he feeds the team statistics, he is also available for analytical insight into the game.

With experience playing and being on the coaching staffs of several sports, Mark brings in depth understanding of high school sports to our broadcast team.

Mike Smith
Another football season edition, Mike has brought an unrivaled passion for Thumb Sports. Mike has a tendancy to toss out soundclip worthy catch phrases at any moment, and has had an immediate impact on the crew at Thumb Tailgater Sports.

Mike played his prep career as Sandusky High School. A total team player, Mike is willing to go to great lengths to bring the best coverage of High School sports to the Thumb Area.
